Stereotypes (need your opinion).
What do you think about stereotypes? Do you follow them? Do you think some of them are truthful (why) ?
Our school team is making a project and your opinion may be a conclusive one. :) Please Help us & spread a min here :)

I think stereotypes are just dumb, people always talk shit about people they've never even spoken to. Do I follow them? no. but do I think some of them are true, yes. I know that's somewhat contradicting myself, but some I think are true.

I think stereotypes are pointless and labeling people is wrong but we all do it. The main one in my city is chav and if your not a chav your classed as indie or emo or scene etc. and It's rather annoying nowadays a lot of my friends just say I'm just normal. Average because its less hassle than being stereotyped.

Stereotypes are something really fucking dumb if you ask me, you shouldn't follow stereotypes, everyone should their own perceptions and opinions.

I don't follow them, and I don't think they're necessarily truthful, but I do think there is a time and place for them.
For example, I don't care if you label someone else. It's a label, it's sort of a form of organization. Organization is a natural state of mind, and rather healthy. You just can't let it control things- cause not all goths are gloomy, not all preps are horrible people, not all blondes are dumb.
I think stereotypes are perfectly fine to use, as long as you can think around them- rather than just not deciding to like someone on whether or not their jeans are tight, covered with chains, or just jeans.

Its silly, and in this day and age it shouldn't be accepted in modern society. Its a form of discrimination and prejudice.
I don't think its fair to label someone by the music they listen to or the clothes they wear, or even the people they talk to. I like a whole range of music from opera to metal and I wear black clothes occasionally, but that doesn't define me. You can't label someone purely on a few of their preferences.
I think everyone is guilty of stereotyping at some point in their life though, even from a young age. When I was at school the usual playground stereotypes were chav, goth, emo, skater and punk. People were defined by how they looked. Since leaving school I don't hear any of those now because its a different environment.
However I still hear people coming out with some pretty typical stereotypes, usually on forums. For example, because I'm Scottish I'm apparently a ginger kilt-wearing alcoholic, as is the rest of Scotland. Which isn't true.

Where I live, it's full of sterotypes. If it makes any sense, but I find them usefull. As in how to greet someone, and how to uhm.. socialize. Lol i can't find the right words but yeah. I mean like, I have some friends who you would class as an Unconfident Emo , I won't go ask them to go to the beach.
Eh, I won't not hang out with someone because of what their classed as, I just find it easier.

I totally agree with Kinesic on that reason. I find stereotypes funny for some reason.

I think some sterio types are stupid. I hate the way that people steriotype you, at school me and my friends get called Geek's or Boff's, because we do our work and stuff. In my town, theres 2 Main steriotypes, in one side of the town, there's all chav's, and on the other is all Goth's / Emo's. I think you just dress like something, and get labeled. Like if you wore a Nike Bag you'd get called a chav.

A Chav, is normally someone who wearsd Tracksuit's, or clothes from shops like *topman, topshop etc. At my school theyre all the popular ones, and all the boys have spikey hair and Nike school bags, and all the girls wear hair Extensions, Skirts, Plimpsoles, Orange foundation.
Most of the girls act quiet stupid too, it makes em popular somehow.
Lol, im sure somoene could explain that a whole Lot better than i did x]
* (Not saying everyone who shops there is a chav)
