Do you like being watched?
I saw on the news earlier a discussion about whether there should be more cctv cameras in cities or not, to help cut down crime rates.
as usual in a discussion, there was someone who was in favour of being monitored on cctv because it made them feel safer. Also there was someone who disagreed with this. They said it made them feel like a contenstant on Big Brother.
I would like to ask you whether you are for or against being monitored when you are out walking around a city.
Personally, I like the fact that something is being done about crime and will help support the older generation who often feel insecure on their own. what do you guys think?

I think it's cool, it's like having you're own camera crew, living the life like a celebrity.
Eh,
But it could get weird at times..

You're...you're kidding, right?
Anyway, I understand the need for surveillance. But it gets to a point when it really DOES become 1984. It's all a matter of how much freedom the people are willing to surrender in order to be "safe."

Like we have any chance being not watched ...
Well, I told Chris yesterday evening that as soon as I finished university, I'll move to my friend who lives in California, Cannon Beach. I'm not interessted living in such a 1984-ish country.
Want any examples?
Well, our so called 'politicans' are frightend of the international terrorism. Oh lord! Like they sneak out of the internet and fuck you in the ass! So, they try to invent methods to block terror-things on the internet. But when you have the opportunity to use it against things, which are clearly bad, why don't use it against things, the government don't like? Hm ...
Within the next days, when your president Obama arrives here in Baden-Baden, all the residents within the city and the surrounding area are not allowed to go outside of their house, except with a police officer. No sunglasses are allowed, no hoodies ...
But of course, the inter-thing is not a problem. Like in China, people around here know what to do with proxys; let's say: our enemy, the government and the politicans, are a generation of old men with no know-how. So, whenever they try something new out, for every method they have, our people, the free people, have 10 against.
Let's pray, this 'attitude of the righteous' won't last long. At last they all die out ...
To sum up: no, I don't like being watched and the government and politics, especially our minister of Interior can fuck themselves ...
I 'm not in the mood of yelling 'Heil Sch?uble!' or 'Heil Bundesregierung!'. We had this ... about 60 years ago ...

Exactly. Having some cameras is necessary, but there is a line between 'Necessary' and 'Orwellian'. The ruling elite are control freaks and they want to put cameras everywhere, along with national ID cards and even implantable microchips (RFID). They advocate these types of things in their own reports.

I don't understand with what is the big privacy issue here. I find nothing wrong with more security cameras in public areas.

What's the problem with being observed? If you are doing nothing wrong, then what are your worries?
My governmental problems lie more with when we let power-figures decide what sense, logic and humanity is. But that's another subject entirely.

I do not care for the idea of being monitored by the government as I go about my daily business.
