Who will that be? My favourite rapper is young buck. My nickname is after him also. I like the way he is going hard. I simply love his flow and rhymes. I love bumping his south music all day long.

JayZ and Kanye West.
They're both great entertainers and both great rappers. I've been to see Kanye West live once, was an amazing expierance.
In terms of lyrics though, Eminem would win that hands down. I love Mockingbird by Eminem, great lyrics and meaningful too.

Mines Eminem and Kanye west. I understand 90% of the words that come out of eminem mouth and his lyrics are so meaningful and literal.
Kanye is one of best. I like him more than 50 cents and akon. Dont really like 50 that much.

I like some of Kanye Wests songs, but to tell you the truth, sometimes his Attitude is a bit cocky for me. His songs, yeah, I like. I also like Eminem, 50 cent, Ying Yang twins, lil jon, and lots more.

Here's whity's opinion:
When rap first came out, it was new, clean, and fun for everyone. A few years later, bands like 2 Live Crew and NWA totally turned everything around for rap. They invented a new category, gangsta rap, but it was never officially declared a genre, but rap was.
This was the first flaw in rap, and history has proven this was rap's downfall. But I'll get into that later.
When NWA broke up, rap was very scarce, it was the early nineties, and people were still on the mid-to-late 80's hip hop (different from "rap".)
This was when Dr. Dre released The Chronic, which yet again, turned the direction of rap around.
As with NWA and 2 Live Crew, Dre told his listeners simply, "I can say this, and I can say it to whoever I want, however I want."
Record labels such as Death row, and Aftermath were growing very rapidly during the popular rise of rap. With these two major labels, more and more rappers were produced, many with their own styles, like Dru Hill, and many never seen before, like a black female rapper such as Lil' Kim.
Many artists still stuck to the original meaning brought in from the 80's, to express poetry through a means in which the black community would listen.
This was when the Notorious BIG released his first album, Tupac's following shortly after. Because of their extreme love for the music, and close views to eachother, the two became great friends, and even produced a few songs together. Unfortunately, their relationship ended with hatred, anger, and songs directed to one another. Biggie and Tupac were shot and killed in 96 and 97.
During this, there was a split of East coast and West Coast, while rap started steadily growing in the urban areas of cities, such as New York and Los Angelos, etc. It was becoming more derogatory towards women, gays, and certain minority groups.
But by this time, a lot, if not yet most artists, became to create a commercial view towards rap. Rappers became obsessed with swearing, cruelty, and just obscene lyrics.
Eminem, noted to be the "real" first white rapper, proceeding by many years now-actor Mark Wahlberg (Marky Mark).
Because of him being white and using the same technique as early NWA, and current rappers, Eminem bought himself his never-ending harassment problems with Congress, the FCC, and various Government Reps.
I believe what triggered the present situation of shitty lyrics and songs like Soulja Boy, and all that crap, was Nelly, when he came out with "Grillz."
That's right. A song about his teeth. There might have been a song before it, but it was definitely the turning to commercial rap instead of meaningful rap.
Now here is what I consider quality rap:
-Meaningful lyrics, that actually have a purpose, and a definition in the dictionary of human English.... nothing like "Supaman that ho!"
-Music that isn't a consistent bass beat on repeat
-A song that is not made to encourage the selling and/or promotion of the artist
I'd write more, but this was so dissorganized, but I hope many of you read it! Yes, I did write that myself.
edit: sorry. my favorite rapper is Xzibit

Out of all the replies in this thread, I can relate more to your artists than anyone else. Well, I like Tupac too.
Some of my favorite rap/hip-hop artists include; Mos Def (older work), Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, A Tribe Called Quest, Atmosphere, Jedi Mind Tricks, and the list goes on and on.
